God Cares for You
Eternal Protection
“The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.” Psalm 121:7–8 (KJV)
All of us who have had the blessing of being parents understand the deep responsibility of caring for our children at all costs. It’s more than just a feeling—it’s a duty. And if we, being human and imperfect, feel this way, how much more will our God care for us, who is faithful and fulfills all His promises?
Scripture is full of declarations about God’s protection and covering. His care goes beyond the earthly—it is eternal. He protects what no human can guard: our soul. That soul, which, by believing in Christ, can now rest in eternal hope, thanks to His blood shed on the cross, through which we receive the forgiveness of our sins.
Special Care
“And he spake this parable unto them, saying, What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.” Luke 15:3–7 (KJV)
This is what our God is like. When we are trapped in fear, sorrow, or sin, He comes for us. No matter how far we may feel from Him, God never forgets His children. His care is real, constant, and deeply personal.
There is perhaps no greater sense of security for a child than being in their parents’ arms. That unconditional love becomes an emotional and spiritual refuge. Science confirms that when a child is in the arms of their father or mother, their world feels safe: heart rate stabilizes, anxiety decreases, and they learn they are not alone.
That physical contact teaches the child to trust, to feel protected, and to develop what psychology calls secure attachment. This kind of attachment is the foundation upon which a child builds their identity, future relationships, and ability to love. Being in their parents’ arms doesn’t just comfort the child—it shapes them. There, the child feels sheltered, loved, held… and at peace. “He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.” Isaiah 40:11 (KJV)
What a beautiful truth it is to know that we have a God who cares for us like a shepherd cares for his flock!
Security in the Midst of Insecurity
We live in uncertain times, where security has become a political slogan. But only God can provide true protection.
As missionaries, we’ve learned what it means to live in a foreign land—where our rights are subject to a different government, and our safety often depends on people who do not share our culture of life. You have no authority to claim anything in a land that isn’t yours… but God can act on your behalf.
It is in those moments that God becomes our defender, protector, and faithful caretaker. When He is the one who sends you, there is no greater backing. No matter what barriers arise, those who do good will be rewarded by God, as His Word says:
“For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the Lord upholdeth the righteous.” Psalm 37:17 (KJV)
God’s care for His children is unconditional and eternal. It is a perpetual promise from a sovereign God who, even in times of trial, never stops providing or protecting. Often, we don’t understand how He works—but we don’t need to understand it all. We just need to let Him lead. In the end, we will always realize it was for our good.
The Embrace That Builds Trust
When I was younger, I didn’t understand many of my parents’ decisions. Sometimes I disagreed with them. But now, after many years, I can say: thank God for everything they allowed and corrected, because it was useful. Maturity means accepting that we can’t comprehend everything—and faith is born in the middle of that uncertainty. We don’t see what’s ahead, but we trust that at the end of the tunnel, there is light.
When I hold my daughter in my arms, I can see the peace she feels. She knows my embrace calms her, protects her, and gives her security—because she trusts that her father is there for her. When she rests in her mother’s arms, she knows there is unconditional love there.
How much more does God care for you!
Never forget: if you do what is right, God will never forget you. He will not let you walk alone or without hope. He Himself will carry you in His arms to protect you.
“For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.” 1 Peter 3:12 (KJV)
